In these projects He has done: works specifications, detailed structure analysis, bill of quantities, and structures drawings.
- High Energy Efficient House Design.
In this project He has done; detailed
structure analysis, thermal fields modelling, complete heating system
design, heat recovery ventilation system design, and structures drawings.
| DESIGN ENGINEER, IRELAND
JULY 2010 TO DECEMBER 2010 |
Worked for: Roughan & O’Donovan In Galway, Ireland
- Munster bridge rehabilitation scheme in County Kerry, Ireland.
In this project He has designed three pre-stressed frame bridges and one 'Matiere' arch bridge.
- Iarnród Eireann Level Crossing Replacement Project in County Kilkenny, Ireland.
In this project He has designed a pre-cast concrete frame, 16m long span over railway line from Brennan to Coogan.
SENIOR ENGINEER, IRELAND
FROM OCTOBER 2004 TO MAY 2009 |
Worked for:
Fehily Timoney & Co. In Cork, Ireland
(Main projects and duties)
- Clonmore Road Bridge in County Westmeath, Ireland.
The
designed bridge is a 540m long concrete structure consisting of 20
spans, and the necessary piling, abutments and piers, as well as 240m
approach embankments.
- N9-N10 Kilcullen to Waterford Phase 3 in County Kildare, Ireland. (Scheme budget was €100 Million).
The
Scheme included 42 structures comprising of 19 overbridges, 2
underbridges, 3 river bridges, 3 underpasses, 10 culverts and 5 sign
gantry structures.
In this scheme He has designed in particular: river bridges, underbridges and sign gantrys.
- N9-N10 Kilcullen to Waterford Phase 4 in County Kilkenny, Ireland.
Scheme budget €467 Million. Bridge Designer. The
Scheme included 85 structures comprising of 23 overbridges, 9
underbridges, 8 overbridges, 3 rail bridges, 16 underpasses, 7 culverts
and 9 sign gantry structures.
In this scheme He has designed in particular: underbridges and sign gantrys.
- Carrickmacross Civic Amenity Centre in County Monaghan, Ireland.
The baling building is a portal steel frame
structure: 30m long, 28m wide and 8m high. Because of very bad ground
condition (marsh about 15m deep), the reinforced concrete slab and the
baling building is supported on the reinforced concrete piles.
- Limerick tunnel PPP Scheme in County Limerick, Ireland.
In this scheme he was responsible, in particular for a Cat. III. design check which comprises; structural analysis and design check of construction and reinforcement drawings).
- Cat. III design check of B02 Railway overbridge consist of two 24m long spans,
- Cat. III design check of B06 Ballykeeffe Boreen overbridge consist of a 44m long single span. This bridge have the longest
prestressed beams (over 44m long) used in Ireland,
- Cat. III design check of B11 overbridge consist of two
independent structures 200m long each, five and six spans. The
structure is supported on steel piles about 30m long,
- Cat. III design check of temporary works for the tunnel under the River Shannon, in particular: steel sheet pile walls, cofferdams and scaffolding.
- Rathcormac, Fermoy Bypass in County Cork, Ireland.
He has conducted a bridge inspection for The Irish Structure Management System, EIRSPAN.
- N11 Gorey to Arklow Link Scheme in County Wexford, Ireland. (Scheme budget was €120 Million).
In this scheme He was responsible for:
- Preparation of preliminary design proposals for
structures on the scheme, liaising with the contractor to assess most
appropriate and cost effective options, estimation of quantities and
preparation of tender submission,
- Optimization of structures design. Structural
analysis for ten overbridges. (The purpose of design optimisation was
to obtain economical and fast design and efficient execution of
construction works),
- Cat. II. design check of 6 overbridges and 4 river
bridges. (The cat. II. design check includes; structural analysis and
design check of construction and reinforcement drawings),
- Design of eight cantilever type traffic signs gantries,
- Design check of false works for all overbridges,
- Design supervision of other structures in the scheme, internal management and liaison with the Client and 3rd Parties.
- N8 Rathcormac Fermoy – Toll Plaza Infrastructure in County Cork, Ireland.
In this scheme He was responsible for:

- Detailed design and drawings check for the Administration building,
- Detailed design and drawings check for the toll plaza main canopies,
- Foundation design for the toll plaza main canopies.
- MK4 maintenance facility at Kent Station in Cork City, Ireland
He was responsible for:
- Detailed design of a reinforced concrete slab with a
service pit for railway tracks, over 200m long. The pit includes
lighting along its length and has provision for compressed air and
power take off points for maintenance operations. Because of the
nature of the site a lot of consideration was given to methods of
dealing with contaminated ground. Excavation was kept to a
minimum to reduce the amount of material sent off site for treatment.
